I was a gruelling 12 hour days cleaning floors and tearing down wallpaper with one baby strapped to my back while the other babies were playing inside the playpen. Ha! All was beginning to fall into place, however there was still a long way to go. To furnish the home would be a huge effort both in time and money. I would also have to go out and shop for my most-loved items. My three sons and me searched for hidden gems while at estate sales to ensure that my spending was under control. The schedule we had for the week which consisted of spending the week from Friday through Saturday at estate and garage sales, buying old and new objects. I spent the rest of the week working on painting and sanding the driveway. My passion for furniture restoration started with an appearance that was similar to this. It didn't matter if the house was already decorated. There was a market in the area for me to market my items. I eventually had lots of pieces, I didn't think of a solution and my storage space was a mess. At home, I began hosting open houses in which more than 1000 people could come in and buy any item they wanted on the first floor over the course of a weekend. Growing Days is the result from this. Apart from my successful business, I also grew our family. The balance between work and family was crucial for me. I wanted to be a mom as well as a business owner who was successful. Growing Days fit perfectly. Nora was born in 2013 and became our fourth baby. It was a great direction for my business however I was also in need of a vacation. I decided to step back to spend time in my home with my kids. At the time, it was the ideal thing to do. Within a couple of months, my phone started to start to. Numerous people reached me to ask for advice regarding home improvements and decor. The majority of them had attended my house during the open houses for furniture. After a while I started taking on clients according to my schedule. In no time, I was managing multiple accounts, as well as a house renovations company. If you'd told me that my company would become the premise for a DIY Network show, I would probably have been astonished. If I think back, it still makes me giggle.
