April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4, 1995) started her journey in music in the 7th grade in which she began piano and guitar classes. At the age of seven she began to take guitar and piano classes. The lessons sparked her passion to write songs. The singer spent much of her time when she was 14 writing songs and practicing music. She started writing songs alongside her father and her dad in NY and LA within a short time. April also added additional themes to the track "Take My Hand" to help her the friends she had who struggled with issues such as peer pressurization disabilities, and even teens who committed suicide. Lockhart has her own following and works as a lifestyle blogger with the renowned Ilia the Clean Beauty brand. Her birthplace didn't come with a left hand, and that is the reason she's the person she is. But that's far from the whole story. Lockhart's Instagram account doesn't ignore her handicap. But it also doesn't insist on it. What is the message? We all have multiple aspects and that we are all unique and we're beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her physical disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only talks about disability. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. But it does not affect my daily living. I still do all the things I normally would and have adjusted to my disability. It's also part of me and I feel it's important to talk about. Lockhart has been a great source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to self-acceptance. Still, she acknowledges going through phases of insecurity with her physique and being uneasy wearing certain clothing styles which exposed her arms. Today, she wears anything she wants. She also posts her pictures to social networks. Self-love, she says is a journey. I'm not sure when you'll reach the final stage. It's true for all regardless of level of insecurity. I believe having friends around you who really understand you and can see your heart is really important because they'll be the people that remind you of what are you concerned about?
