Adams was born to a U.S. Army officer in Italy and was raised in Castle Rock Colorado. The actress began acting and dancing professionally in the mid-1990s with Boulder Dinner Theatre, and then the Country Dinner Playhouse. Later she was in Minnesota in a small local theater, she was selected to play a role in an unrealized documentary film about beauty pageants titled Drop Dead Gorgeous. Then, in Los Angeles, she pursued acting after her film debut in which she played an uneasy but fun contestant. She was married to Tony Curtis was her partner between June 1950 and September 1992. They had two kids, Kelly Curtis as well as Jamie Lee Curtis. Leigh was discovered by actress Norma Shearer and was offered a contract to work for MGM in the late 1940s. Through the years that followed, she appeared in many famous films, including Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho (1960), and Living It Up by Martin and Lewis (a 1954 film).
